My Picks For UFC 81: Breaking Point

Just one night before the Superbowl, the UFC is presenting UFC 81, live from Las Vegas. Now, with just a little over two hours left before the show begins, I’ll run down my picks for each fight. My picks are in bold.

First, the fights that may not be broadcast (being a huge Rob Emerson fan, I hope that one, at least, will be):

Chris ‘Lights Out” Lytle vs. Kyle Bradley

Keita “K-Taro” Nakamura vs. Rob “The Saint” Emerson
My boy Rob Emerson should mop the floor with him. Just like he will when he finally gets his rematch with Gray Maynard.

Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman vs. Terry Martin

Tim Boetsch vs. David Heath

Gleison Tibau vs. Tyson Griffin
It would be a travesty if this one isn’t broadcast

Now for the sure-to-be-broadcast fights:

Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida vs. Rob “Monster” Yundt

Jeremy “Gumby” Horn vs. Nate “The Great” Marquardt

Much respect to Gumby, but Marquardt should kill him

Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia vs. Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira
Unless Nogueira fights like all the other Pride guys who have been entering the UFC, this one should be in the bag.

Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesnar
For the main event, Brock Lesnar’s UFC debut should be interesting to watch. With only one real fight under his belt, can the former WWE champion beat the former UFC champion? I have a feelin, despite Lesnar’s inexperience, Mir will be over matched by his sheer size. Lesnar’s been training hard for this, and unless he underestimates Mir, he should be able to walk out with the win.

Looking forward to a fun night both tonight and tomorrow, as my Pats look to go 19-0. It’s a little scary to think of the Patriots as the Yankees of football. Should be an interesting weekend.
